Cisownica Cisownica is a village that has a population of 1,600 residents, located in the highest part of Teschen Foothills and at the bottom of Little Czantoria mountain, belonging to the Silesian Beskid. Its name village has taken from formerly growing yews there in great numbers. Few dozen of them currently grows on the side ridge Zagron - Zadni Gaj (especially in „Zadni Gaj” reserve) that surrounds Cisownica from the West, which is the ridge of Tul mountain descending towards Cisownica.

It is one of the oldest towns in Teschen Land. First reference about it comes from 1305. It was a pasture village. For the whole time Cisownica was a ducal village with the hereditary vogt. In 18th century Cisownica was joined into the habsburg entail. The salt route (so-called „Salter”) in old times was leading through the village. In 18th and 19th centuries low-grade iron ores called siderites were excavated in primitive tunnels in neighborhood, for the ironworks in Ustron and later in Trinec (CZ) requirements. Exploitation of iron ores have been finished in 1870. Rust coloured bed of flowing across Cisownica streams , give evidence to iron existence. Charcoal was burned here for the requirements of ironworks in Ustron.

Countryman Jura Gajdzica (1777 – 1840), bibliophile, the author of original diary „For the memory of human nation” being interesting linguistic source and document of the village in Silesia Beskid, lived In Pasieki in Cisownica. Jura Gajdzica was also creator of the oldest peasant ex libris, with which he covered many books that he brought from distant Cracow. It was one of this kind of proprietary marks in Poland.

During II World War many residents of the village were fighting with occupier. There are monuments dedicated to war victims, situated at the road to Dziegielow (at Machowa mountain) and Little Czantoria, at the place of betrayed partisan bunker destruction.

From bigger working places there is a need to mention the big „Szymanski” sawmill. In the late years the appearance of Cisownica changes.

New gym with indoor swimming pool has been built at the primary school building. Also newly, in 1981, the Evangelical Church of Augsburg located in center of village was built. From year to year Cisownica becomes a holiday village in a higher and higher degree. It is more often visited by tourists, many holiday houses arise, being built mostly by Upper Silesia residents being fascinated with its beauty.

Cisownica residents are carrying live cultural activity. Groups being active at communal common room are: Singing Group “Beskuryje”, cabaret “Rufijoki”, literary circle, children's theatre “Sparkle”, Proposition Club. Violin play lessons are being given here too. Since not long ago the Cisownica Lovers Association is active and may be proud of Regional Chamber “At Brzezinowie” establishment , opened on 29th of September 2001.

Many important persons are connected with Cisownica: mentioned earlier Jura Gajdzica, Jan Ozana – long-standing Cisownica's school director, Teresa Waszut – local poetess, Jan Sztwiertnia – long-standing Goleszow's vogt, member of parliament RP since 2001.
