Puńców Puncow is a village bordering with Teschen that is located in the western part of Teschen Foothills, in the valley of Puncowka river at the altitude of about 300 – 350 meters above the sea level and having population of almost 1500 residents.
JIt is apart from Goleszow, the oldest village in Goleszow commune and one of the oldest in Teschen Silesia ducal village, existing already in 1223. In 15th century parish was here already.
A very precious historic building in Puncow is the Roman Catholic Saint George's church . It was built in 1518. It is the oldest brick church building in the village and in the Teschen district. It was built in the late-Gothic style. In 1902 – 1905 the church was expanded. In place of the old wooden tower, the new – brick one was built, fit into the building structure. The bell have been placed in tower in 1726. Presbytery is the oldest part of the church, which passes from the northern side to the vestry. Old passion altar is located inside the church and it comes from the old wooden church building, existing here before the brick church erection. The church nave is based on the square plan with octagonal central pillar supporting the three folded vaults (so-called palm or star (groin) vaulting). It is one of this kind of example of nave solution in Cieszyn Silesia. The narrower presbytery divided by lancet rainbow, remained its net (lierne) vault. There are also few pretty Gothic portals located inside.
Few historic houses from 19th century are located in Puncow that have for example the barrel vaulting.
One of the residents of this village was Jozef Zaleski (1850 – 1915), the Farming Association president, author of “The letters from Puncowka“ and Alojzy Milata (1885 – 1936), pedagogue and sightseer, author of several geography and methodology of this subject handbooks.
An interesting geological thing can be Cieszynites appearance in Puncow area – the alkalic volcanic rocks, created in Cretaceous era and are found in a form of veins mainly in the valley of Puncowka river.
